Canning tool
This page provides information on the Canning data extraction software for GPs.
Canning was designed and developed by Canning Division of General Practice in Western Australia in 2005.
The Canning Division developed specialized data extraction software in response to National Primary Care Collaboratives (NPCC) request to develop a data extraction tool for the Collaboratives project.
This was completed successfully within a very short timeframe. The original tool extracted clinical data for patients with diabetes and coronary heart disease (CHD).
The current tool is able to import and export data from most clinical desktop software applications including Medical Director and Best Practice.
The Canning tool is widely used in general practices and Divisions across Australia.
The Canning tool is regularly updated with new features.
